Meet our Co-Founders

David J. Marrero, MBA is a former Stanford University 2-sport Student-Athlete (Football, Track & Field), Co-Founder & CEO of True Student-Athletes & leads our Athletic & Mentality Guidance vertical

David believes in a world where access to support and guidance for aspiring student-athletes and their families should have no barriers.
In High School at St.Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, David carried a 3.9 GPA, was an ESPN.com All-American in football (RB/WR), 4x100 meter track & field state champion, & National Merit Commended Scholar
After Stanford, once his athletic career came to an end (as it will for us all), he received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has been a thought leader in technology, education & sports
During David's time in Texas, he spent time guiding collegiate student-athletes as an academic mentor for the University of Texas at Austin Longhorn track & field, football and baseball programs.
David now lives in Northern California with his family & maintains his deep passion for supporting the next generation of well-rounded student- athletes while making an impact through education, family, faith and business.

Katrina Austria Marrero, M.Ed, a Santa Clara University Alumna, has spent 10+ years focused on college counseling at both the college and high school levels & leads our Academic, College & Career Guidance vertical

Once a previous student-athlete (Club Volleyball, Nationally ranked black belt in Tae Kwon Do, HS Basketball), Katrina is excited about helping students through transitions, whether it be competing in a sport from high school to college, or pivoting away from sports.
Katrina holds a Master's degree in Education from Texas A&M University, Katrina attended Santa Clara University and Sacred Heart Cathedral High School in San Francisco, CA
In her 10+ years as an educator, Katrina has worked with students as a teacher, college counselor, high school assistant principal, and in college admissions at Stanford University and the University of Texas at Austin.
Her experience canvasses the entire life cycle of a student in the education system, which strengthens her edge in promoting student success across the spectrum.
Katrina lives in her native Bay Area and is raising a fraternity with 2 toddler boys. She loves watching TV shows that make her laugh until her stomach hurts and her blood type is bubble tea.
